What is your value prop? It seems like everyone always wants to move to consulting. As a hiring manager I know what’s in it for them, but I need to hear from them what’s in it for us. Make sure you come with a strong story. It will help.
By value prop do you mean the desired salary? Sorry still very new to the lingo. Without my masters, I was thinking $80k now with my masters probably $90k. I don't have any experience in consulting aside from some face 2 face sales at tmobile for 5 years lol. What I lack in experience I guess I make up in education and qualities. I learned a lot from the sales positions in terms of customer relationships, product delivery, and customer onboarding. I also really enjoy helping people out. I have been told I have a knack for helping others out, and if I can tie that with tech that would be insane.
If you have a degree in CS and devops skills, you can join tech directly. If you want to do consulting, you can do professional services within GCP/AWS/Azure.
What skills do you have?
Honestly apply to another company for the role you want. With technical skills, you can get a nice pay bump and the role you want.
Deloitte will make it extremely difficult to internally transfer and they will not bump your salary up that much.
How are you defining strategy? Ie digital transformation OR architecting their infrastructure.
Sounds like strategy and not implementation. So I would personally start putting feelers out there, but note that it might be tough in the beginning. I'd also open my search to the other Big 4, boutiques, AWS implementation partners, integrators, etc.
In the meantime shore up your interviewing skills and hone in your story of why.
