Unfortunately this is true in all aspects of life. You will have lots more comments on bad service than good. You have to find ways to feel good about yourself without always seeking the praise of others. I know it is hard and I struggle with it too.

Sorry that you're experiencing this! Sounds like you guys are unappreciated, but remember that doesn't mean you're not valuable.
There’s very little room for error in a lot of healthcare jobs. It is nice to have recognition when things go well, but also try to understand that there will always be things to learn and do better with.

Like most of us, you don't. Unless you're in a very visible, public-facing role, you're resigned to being one of those "behind the scenes" types who keeps everything humming along without ever getting the kudos you're due. It's a very frustrating fact of life that further reinforces my belief that contentment has to come from within. If your sense of self-worth hinges on external validation, you're in for a bad time.
Just keep doing the right thing and following policy and procedures. My mother used to always say someone is watching and your elevation comes when least expected. You don’t have to say anything for respect. Never be in defense when things go wrong. Figure out what step was missing when it happened. Eventually it will show up if it is a specific person. Be the problem solver and that means not necessarily sharing with your peers but discussing solutions with higher when opportunity presents itself. A lot of large corporations have ways for you submit ideas. Always do it with your name and not anonymously.
Lastly respect is earned.
I would settle for this in a heartbeat.Be glad that you're not bullied and harassed and hostilitized the entire time that you are at work. Just know in yourself that you are the roots to the patient's healing or outcome!

I hear you. It’s one of the most critical roles but rarely recognised until something goes wrong. Advocacy helps, but leadership should be reminding staff daily that safe surgery starts with your team.
