I don’t have a story for you - but I will pass on some advice I once got from a former boss of mine. It was “why be the one to say no to yourself?”
If you want it, go for it. If you’re not right they’ll be the ones to say no. Equally you might find out more and decide it’s not for you.
But if you say no to yourself first, you genuinely have zero odds. 🤷🏻♀️
👏👏👏
Do it
I actually applied for a role I had no business getting, just to signal I was ready for something bigger. Didn’t get it, but it kicked off a real conversation with leadership about what I would need to grow into it. That alone was worth it.
Applying never works. Either get an in through a recruiter or someone working on the inside. I am pretty sure filling out applications might hurt your chances unless an internal recruiter randomly pulls a resume from that list of thousands who’ve applied. Many recruiters seem to prefer cold calling people on LinkedIn as a way to get interviews over checking out the resumes sent over proactively
Do it. You’ll gain knowledge from the process and that will help you get the job in the future. However, take it seriously and do everything you can to try and win. Just going through the motions won’t do you any good. Good luck.
