I’m looking for a new opportunity and I’m open to either wealth management, financial planning, hedge funds, private equity, asset management, or trading. I’m more of a hunter/closer not a gatherer. I manage $100 Million in assets, but my book is mostly NOT portable. I’m a CFP, ChFC, hold the Series 7, 65, and Life insurance licenses. I have 12 years experience in wealth management and I’m finishing up my MBA soon with a concentration in Mergers & Acquisitions. 3.6 GPA from top 50 university.

Currently a software engineer at FAANG (four years out of college) interested in getting involved in tech private equity. To reset my career, what is the most efficient route to get there? MBB -> PE?

Starting the MBA process from almost scratch. Aiming for Fall ‘22 start. Are there any good (free?) resources where I can take practice GMAT and GRE? Plan is to study for 6 months, take an official test and have applications submitted Fall ‘21. Is that reasonable?

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

Seeking feedback on GAP insurance. I had a family member who purchased a car in June or July. They were in an accident last week and it sounds like the car will be declared a total loss. I’ve been at my company (pharma) for 9 years this summer. Came out of my company’s HR development program and responsibilities have increased over time. I’m happy but I’m not sure if it will look bad in a few years to have only been at 1 company and whether it’ll affect my progression and marketability later. Thoughts?

Is it really unrealistic to expect a raise in this current economic climate? Review period is coming up in July, and I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot by not asking for a raise.

We Indians are so poor we can't think anything else except money. Whole Fishbowl is all about YOe and Salary. No one interested about if any company doing any innovation or not. B-Tech colleges put ads with Package and Campusing only. Almost 99% Indian YouTube thumbnail is like "5 lakh to 40 lakh", "Interview Experience in bracket 50Lpa" etc.. Hardly we can see Foreign Editorial things marked with Packages.

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.
