I’m looking to break into commercial real estate law (transactional) in Houston. I’m currently practicing community association law at a mid-size firm, but I have a background in real estate law (landlord/tenant litigation) and I’m also a licensed Realtor. I have some experience with drafting deeds, leases, promissory notes, etc…how difficult will it be to lateral?

I’m having my annual review this week. Any advice on how to handle a) job offer b) review?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. Anyone live with a general plat exception rather than insisting upon the title company specifying the matters on plat which constitute exceptions? Pro se plaintiff, an attorney, filed a complaint alleging mold defects after closing on a property. Client, layperson, may have agreed orally to a settlement amount without proof of damages prior to filing appearance and obtaining an attorney. Client filed appearance pro se, then plaintiff sent over a draft settlement agreement few weeks later which client didn’t sign. Client then got an attorney, filed answer, etc. Can this oral agreement be voided for coercion, indefinite mat’l term, etc?

I've been applying to jobs for months but every position wants at least 2yrs of experience in real estate transactions, usually way more. I'm at 1yr+ doing HOA/condo work but have had no opportunity to do real estate transactions like I expected. Seems like the only way to get the experience is to have nailed a big law gig right out of school and get put into that practice.
