I think you need to define the economic hub vitality you’re looking for. Have you heard of the GMP index? Instead of GDP, look at the Gross Metropolitan Index which takes into consideration whole regions that contribute to goods and services sold, not just cities. If you’re looking at Richmond, you should be looking at the Triangle; Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte. Tremendous tech growth there in recent years, cost of living is less, there’s mountains, forrest’s, hiking and it’s GREEN, lush. Beautiful country.Born and raised in NYC, I moved out to Colorado Springs; too many people in El Paso county and if you like the color brown, there’s lots of it there. The mountains are majestic, but it gets very crowded in the Summer. Austin is expensive and have you checked the ave.temperatures there? High 90s-low 100s, very humid, very crowded. Look at central-eastern NC. Asheville, Greensboro. Durham, Raleigh, or if you’re up to it SC. That’s some beautiful country and your dollar goes a long way there. Richmond is Martin Agency country and they’re killing it now, but very little else advertising wise in Richmond. Check our NC and SC if you haven’t done so. I think you’ll be surprised at what they offer.
No, not like the people. You’re at the Foothills of the Rockies and Pikes Peak. When you’re on the mountain the views are spectacular but the city itself is a light beige to a deep brown in coloration, and the surrounding cities are the same. No vegetation. I lived there for a year, people were friendly, not all that concerned with what’s happening in the world, very Democratic, and no leafy green trees. I missed the lushness of the East coast and moved to NC., really beautiful state with everything you need if you love the outdoors.
How big of a metro area do you want? Denver/boulder is p similar to austin and has a decent smattering of agencies. Not as solid as austin, but not bad
