I love WFH, I find it less distracting. I find noise cancelling headphones, a dedicated space and sticking to a strict schedule helped me. I find it more distracting listening to everyones gossip and having their phones ring none stop.
Interesting! When I’m at the office I wear headphones to avoid noise distraction so clearly I need to do that at home too!
Can you create a dedicated work space or home office at home? This is the only thing that's worked for me. I tried to work from the couch for a while, and wound up spending most of my day getting distracted by chores that needed doing, TV, playing with the dogs. I finally got around to setting up a home office in the guest bedroom and it's made a night and day difference. It's a distraction-free space, and I've found that by only working in there, I've been able to create a physical separation between my work and personal lives. If I'm in the office, I'm working. If I'm not, I'm on me time.
This is my plan when I move next because I think a dedicated office will change my headspace into a work one. Although I will say if I had dogs I would never get any work done!
That was my biggest problem when I started working remotely during the pandemic, in my own space everything seemed like a distraction. What happened, without me realizing it at first, is that over time I became pretty focused. And eventually I realized I might have been more productive working in isolation. So in time you may find yourself adapting to it.
Okay this is good to hear! I’m pushing myself to become less distracted so hopefully soon I can fully focus
I make a fake commute! I go for a walk before starting and after finishing work — helps switch my brain on and off.
