I’m new to investing. I have a 401k and an IRA (Roth), and a high yield savings account. What’s the next level?

Max them both out, including backdoor options

HSA probably

I forgot to add that, I have maxed my HSA for three years now

Order of my investing operations:
1. 401k to match
2. Roth IRA max
3. HSA max
4. 401k match
5. Mega backdoor Roth (if allowed by employer)
6. Brokerage (no tax benefit)

What do you mean by non-retirement accounts? As far as I can think of the only tax advantaged accounts not tied to retirement are 529 and HSA. After that it’s just a brokerage account which you want to buy and hold as much as possible since it’s taxable.

I just keep index funds in my after tax account and a few individual speculative stocks I like for fun at a small percentage of my portfolio.

I am expecting an offer from Master Card for Senior Software Engineer position in O Fallon MO. Please let me know what kind of base salary I can expect with 11 yrs experience . I don’t wanna undersell but also trying to avoid being aggressive but quote a decent number which will be achievable. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Is 125k $ base a fair value for or I can pitch higher? They have a 15 to 20 % bonus on top of base pay and a 10% match on 401k which the recruiter keep highlighting.

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments

Probably a stupid question for most of you, so apologies: if I invest $10k in stocks/bonds combo, make $400 profit, and decide to withdraw 10k after 4 months. Do I pay taxes on that or taxes kick in once I go above the amount of $ I invested?

How do you invest and save for your children? I’m thinking about setting them up with custodial brokerage accounts but don’t want them to have a heyday at 18. Did you create irrevocable trusts or?? I just hit my lean fire number but am hesitating to pull the trigger, so was hoping to run it by people smarter than me:

- I have a few rentals that bring in ~$1800/mo cash flow, taxes are negligible, Capex incl.
- My paper assets will bring in ~$1200/mo at 3% draw
- I get free Healthcare at the VA
- No plans on kids
- My expenses haven't topped $30k/yr ever
- I could always reenter the workforce if needed (albeit probably not in consulting)

Please point out the flaws here, what am I missing?
