I’m now responsible for delegating work as a senior associate (litigation). I’m likely in pre partner territory. However, I have so much on my plate I can barely get through my substantive work. Emails are a challenge; now, coordinating people is hard. Part of it had me wondering if I even want to be partner. I’m fine getting my work assigned to me, completing, and moving on. Is this a common dilemma or am I possibly just not meant to be partner. I do have my mba….

Yes. The amount of admin and delegating as the "middle manager" was more than what I had expected - especially the amount of time spent on these tasks.

I too am wondering whether I want to be a partner after having had the usual "partner track" conversations for the past year.

If you enjoy just getting your work, doing it, and moving on then, no, I don't think partner is for you. And theres nothing wrong with that.

like

Of counsel is probably the most likely iteration of such a position. But as A3 said, it can probably be negotiated as a staff position if theres a demand for your work.

Saw your post, totally get the partner-track admin trap.
I’m not a lawyer, but I run litigation support (doc review, timelines, witness prep tracking, case logistics). You delegate the workflow, I own the follow-through. You stay substantive, I keep the plates spinning.

If that sounds useful, let’s grab 10 min.
