I’m thinking about transferring to another tax group within the firm, but I am sure my current group would like to keep me as long as they can. Let’s say if I get an offer from another firm for the position that I desire, how should I bring this up to my RL/partner/group? Has anyone done this before?

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. Considering an offer to go from firm (4 YOE) to become a privacy/product counsel for a tech company (non-faang). One concern for me is the potential of a recession in late 22 into 23 with the fed rate hikes. My fear is if that happens, me being on the chopping block as new in house counsel.
