Curious as well what they are paying for senior in that role
Not the greatest public speaker/presenter, worried about resetting my career again (27 yrs old) or burning out from travel or making the wrong decision. Quarter life crisis is hitting me hard and causing me a ton of stress. I’m at a crossroads at my career and not sure which to choose. It’s a good problem to have, but still keeps me up at night
Can you elaborate on the consulting role? There have been a lot of bullshit jobs parading around like management consulting lately (both in and outside of B4). I’d recommend a lot of scrutiny if this is anything outside of the actual management consulting arms of whichever firm this is.
How much do they pay?
The consulting job is with KPMGs financial management group. It deals with improving budgeting and forecasting, month close, working capital improvements for clients. Kinda like an FP&A/cash flow consulting if that makes sense
I knew this would be KPMG FM. They’re literally hiring anybody and everybody right now in my market. Personally I’d be worried about what whether their growth will meet all this hiring.
That sounds like a decent gig tbh. If you’re worried about travel I would just straight up ask someone in the group what you can expect. It also seems exit ops for that would be fp&a roles and possibly even some strategy in industry.
I’m a senior now going through the same dilemma. Except now that I have the promotion I have more leverage in getting a senior type position at mgmt consulting or strategic. You’ll prolly have a lot more lucrative and exciting prospects once you are able to update your resume with senior
EY2 which market and area are you at? I’m in the Midwest. Also did KPMG announce anything similar to vision 2020 to cause this much aggressive hiring for that line of service?
I’m also in the Midwest. I know KPMG FM is looking to hire about 10 experienced associates in Chicago right now. I’m not sure if there is anything like vision 2020.
FWIW I don’t think the aggressive hiring would stop me from taking the job as long as I knew what was driving that.
10 experiences hires!? How do you know it’s that high? That seems pretty interesting wonder why that’s the case
10 experienced hires over about 3 months. Someone I worked with just left EY to join and he told me that was what they said in the interview. He also got staffed immediately so it does seem there’s a need.
Hmm I wonder why that’s the case, it’s not like their consulting practice is new. Did kpmg score a big client or something?
Still curious!
PwC 3 asking the important question
OP- I answered your question earlier about the recruiting process in FM. I’m happy to see that you got an offer! Travel seems to vary between projects and is expected but you know your travel schedule well ahead of time. That’s better in my opinion to plan your personal life. As far as making the wrong decision, I’d say if you want to be promoted to senior in your current job (and generally enjoy the work) and can see more of a future there for your own professional growth, might be worth it to stay if you really hate travel and starting brand new. You can DM me (is that a thing here?) any specific questions you may have.
KPMG1, thanks for your message before! Could you tell me more about how many hours you’re working and pros/cons of the role. Also on this post thread, it looks like KPMG FM is hiring a lot of people, is there a reason (winning a big engagement/growing practice, etc). Also could you tell me what salary range should be around to make sure I’m not being lowballed?
OP- look on Glassdoor for salary ranges and judge based on that. FM is growing a lot with winning more engagements so that is why they are hiring people. I work about 45 hours a week excluding travel time. Hope that helps!
Thanks KPMG 1, appreciate your help! If you don’t mind me asking, how’s the team? Staff/Senior? All the people I talked to were manager/director level
