Hello, what is working in retail banking like at JPMorgan Chase ? Specially the branch manager role. I’m looking in the Columbus area. How is pay, culture, benefits, sales environment, meetings, etc. How easy is it to transition from retail banking to corporate. I hear the Polaris campus has great opportunities, I was thinking about getting my foot in the door through retail then transferring to corporate ?

It doesn’t matter anymore - especially if you are good.
If you can honestly say it wasn’t a good fit then why stay 3 months? Your history is solid.
If you do that 2-3x in a row then it will be a bit of an issue.
That’s not the case.
Good luck!
As long as you can confidently speak to why you choose to move on. Departmental changes, roles being eliminated, decrease in work responsibilities etc you’ll be fine.
It’s a very close minded mentality (in my opinion) that longevity shows a dependable/knowledgeable and or well rounded employee. I’ve seen folks at a job for 20+ yrs and still haven’t evolved in their role, how to execute tasks, no thirst for advancement, completely complacent and miserable.
Sticking around doesn’t add up the way they tell you it does. Do what works best for you, no reason to sit somewhere miserable because the #’s need to match up. We spend the majority of our lives at work so making it as tolerable/enjoyable as possible is important.
Probably not in the grand scheme of things, but one year feels like it would look better on a resume to me.
Does 3 months really matter that much ?
Can you stick it out for another three months?
I’m with you, VP. I’m going to stick it out until i hit 1 year and then move on.
Well at 9 months, people will round down to 0, before they round up to 1 year.
^ agree what does tenure at a place prove. We're in an industry that has layoffs every other month so say someone got laid off twice in a row are they not worthy to talk to or consider for a job ? As long as you can explain why you wanna leave you are in the clear.
I mean, I know people who are 5+ years into their careers and have never had one position that’s lasted a year! You’re a stable employee and sometimes it’s not a great fit, which is understandable. If you can make it 3 months, cool. Keep in mind, it might take 3 months to find another position. This industry is full of hoppers, you are not one of them!
You’re a VP. Move on and say it wasn’t right.
