Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Need for travel has been one reason why some of our jobs could not be outsourced to remote delivery & low cost off-shoring. If travel is fully or >50% eliminated, it can be a real threat to management consulting as we know it. So there needs to be an “optimal ratio” of travel to client locations, home office, and WFH, to protect our consulting models. Since we need some face time with clients, and some interaction with colleagues, the optimal balance should be possible. Share your thoughts.

What does it mean to be “up” for partnership? Are you not automatically considered once you reach a certain seniority level?

funnylikesmart

Working on a busy project with a first year and it’s their first big project since starting big law. I’m also a junior, but not a first year. I am kind of shocked at how inefficient the first year is. They’re just barely getting the work done and I assume that’s all you can ask for. But because of that, more and more keeps getting added to my plate. Trying to be compassionate, but it seems like they don’t really care they’re not doing a great job - they log off early, don’t always turn in work.

We are supposed to get our mid-year review soon and I’m nervous about it. I got very good reviews in a previous, informal review, but recently I slipped a bit with some work product and was a bit slow to turn around some pro-Bono work. I’m afraid that it will overshadow the good work I’ve done in the past just because it coincided with the time partners are drafting their reviews. Has anyone overcome a bad mid-year or annual review? I could use some comforting 😣
