If you are looking for career growth and better compensation benefits, then I would go for Kearney. Oliver Wyman has flexible hours of work and culture is less demanding. They are both good but personally, I'd go for Kearney.

like

How far off in comp benefits would you estimate the difference to be

Weird that there are only people talking about Kearney here.

So as someone who had offers from both of them, here is my 2 cents:

Tl;dr: OW will give you more access to other practices outside their core, culture is very subjective, comp is better at OW for top performers but lower for all others, aux services at OW are better

OW: OW is a firm that currently has a lot of flexibility - but don't confuse that with better WLB. In OW you can somewhat choose your wlb by choosing the practices and, depending on your level, the parterns you wanna work with. From a culture standpoint, and those are always tricky because it's kinds subjective, but OW has a chillier culture (if you like it or not it's on you). Being part of MMC won't have any meaningful impact on you untill you reach the principal level

Kearney: Kearney is a firm that is very dependent on the culture of each office. I've heard mixed things based on friends in different offices (both in US and international). They seem to be a down to earth people and management is really transparent, but (and this comes from a lot of people I've heard) they really don't seem to care much about low level people. Kearney also has something going on where they seems to not being able to grow - they have the smallest growth over all top consulting firms (Kearney used to be #4 in the world in terms of revenue, now they're #6)

In terms of practices, it's very straightforward: if you wanna focus on supply chain, Kearney is your go to, no questions asked. In contrast, Financial services and Aviation, it's OW (in those, both firms are even stronger than MBB). But, and I assume it's the most common case, you're still not interested in focus on only one practice, OW will offer you more access to other practices compared to Kearney

In comp/aux services:
- compensation: OW top performers will get more money than Kearney to performers (even considering profit share), but low and medium performers at Kearney will get you more (this is for US, for Brazil/London/middle east OW pays more, for China Kearney pays more). This happens due to how bonuses are structure at OW, which makes your TC the equivalent of the level you ended the year performing as, not the one you started.
- aux services: it looks to me that OW has a better structure on those, but neither firm are like McK where they outsource their excel (although I've been told its similar to Bain, not sure if it means Bain is lacking or OW is doing good on this case)

OW1, completely agree except the growth piece. Won’t get into specific numbers, but growth is very much happening and is expected to only go up over the next few years (especially within the Ops and Analytic groups)

OP, if you’re looking at Ops then look no further than Kearney. I joined specifically for the supply chain / analytics practice and couldn’t be happier. You’ll work with some of the best operators in the industry, and our Ops work is truly strategic. I have since left the firm, and within the ops world, the Kearney name carries some serious weight

like

Kearney has a stronger reputation for operations and I would assume that operations isn’t as central to the firm in terms of team sizes, IC etc at OW

In case you want to stay in consulting long term: Kearney is a partnership while OW is part of a larger org

like

What kind of background in Operations you have? From true operations and supply chain perspective, Kearney is the best. You can have various flavours in terms of different industries, project types (ODDs), etc.

Con- At least when I was there would be wlb and SOP (Operations Practice) within Kearney is little political imo

Can’t comment on OW. I am ex-Kearney

I fear sharing more will not keep me anonymous any more given how many folks we send to firms like GS :)

Salary - What is the salary of Operations Managers in Hyderabad

Hello,

I have cleared interview with Wipro a month ago and after 15 days I received a simple mail from HR saying you are selected.

Since that day, there is no communication from HR team of Wipro . I tired of sending multiple emails and when I tried to call he always declines my call.

Between director of respected technology is reaching me and he wants me to join ASAP and take over the project work.

What should I do now?

Thanks

JPMorgan Chase recently introduced a policy change to increase the notice period to 60 days. I'm a 602 and resigned recently and yet my LWD is showing up as 30 days from now. Anyone recently resigned can confirm if they are facing the same or new policy is in effect. This is causing confusion with the next companies I'm interviewing with.

Additional Posts in Consulting

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
