I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

Firms almost universally provide better PTO than industry. 3 weeks is actually not bad for industry - I’ve seen a lot of 2 weeks for new hires
Yeah and 2 weeks is awful. You get sick and it blows up half your PTO for the entire year. Never again.
The additional 5-10 days of PTO equivalent comes from actually having time to run errands, do activities, maintain your house/apt, and socialize with people other than your co-workers during a normal week rather than needing to take PTO days for them.
I’m in industry and we also have 3 weeks off vacation for everyone from the start. Additionally, we get 2-3 floating holidays, 8-9 company holidays, 6 sick days and a week shutdown between Xmas and NY that doesn’t come out of our PTO. Oh, and summer Fridays when we get to leave at 1 pm without working extra hours Monday thru Thursday.
Pharma 😊
If you are working more of a 40 hour work week in industry, you won’t need the time off as much because you won’t be so burnt out. I was kind of worried about the lower amount of PTO when I went from PA to industry, but it’s fine. I have so much more free time on a daily basis now and actually enjoy my weekends that I don’t have to take PTO just to decompress from the job.
SM3 is spot on. Since I don’t work nights and weekends in industry, I don’t feel as tired as I was in PA. Don’t even feel like I’m working some times.
15 days all in is crap. its common, but crap. 15 days and some sick days is more realistic.
And how many hours did u work at Deloitte??
I worked around 300 over standard last year. This equates to approximately 37.5 additional normal 8 hour work days or approximately 7 additional normal 40 hour weeks I had to work. PA u work way more so the extra vacation days they give u is immaterial.
It all depends. Many industry jobs that still have an old school mindset only give 2 weeks (10 days) if PTO, so that makes 15 days look amazing. However, some of the more progressive companies are giving more PTO to keep up with millennial demand (not a bad thing). It’s good to keep in mind that public does typically (not always) have better time off than industry, partly because of how much we all work. Ultimately it’s up to you to determine if that is enough PTO for the amount of work they are expecting you to do during the year.
You could always ask and see what they say. Never any harm in asking! But if they’re firm on it, I don’t think it’s worth it to argue over a few extra days of pto..especially if overall pay/benefits are good
