It's great for a salary increase. It's ok for a promotion.
A 15% increase can be when you first starting out. Every little bit can help. But when you are making six figures, not so much.
It depends on a lot of factors if it is a lot. Is this increase a raise? Promotion? Or a new job opportunity?
Consider only netting 60% of the increase.
15% of $100,000 = $15,000.
Remove 40% for taxes, benefits, 401(k). Now you have netted $9,000.
Divide by pay periods: $9,000/24 = $375.
That’s $375 more per paycheck. That probably won’t change a person’s life. But an increase in 401(k) contributions and matches is always nice. Every little bit helps.
15% of what.
Yes. 10% is considered good and normal. Ive see less than 10% at big holding companies.
To be fair, I’ve had 20% raises. But that wasn’t part of the normal promotion standards. That was through leveraging another offer
Yes. 3% increase annually is standard.
It’s more than you’ll get most years at almost any agency unless you’re getting promoted or getting a new job.
