I’m not particularly against it. My wife used something that effectively worked as a “plug”. (Sorry, there’s gotta be a proper term for it.)
It seems to me that some streams of the faith view it as not trusting God. There’s probably more to it than I know.
I’ve had a vasectomy, thus, my wife doesn’t need to use birth control anymore. We have three healthy kids. Thank you, Lord.
Personally against it and plan on using NFP when I’m married. Hormonal bc is not generally good for you if you can avoid it, and I don’t like the idea of using a barrier with someone I’m supposedly fully entrusting myself to in marriage. Besides there’s really only like 5ish days a month where you can get pregnant. I plan to use an app like Natural Cycles to track that (it’s actually an FDA approved form of birth control just as effective if not more than pills/condoms/etc)
Ultimately I think you should focus your decision on what is best for your 1) health + body 2) relationship with your partner
Have conversations with your OBGYN to explore all options
Full time NFPer for 8 years of marriage now. Great stuff. Would never go back to any barriers.
We have always used birth control or condoms. Next year, I plan on getting a vasectomy so my wife could get off BC.
