I have an Economics undergrad + 3.5 year experience in healhcare/lifesciences consulting. If I pursue an MPH or MHA, what would be my non-consulting healthcare career options?
How difficult is it to pivot out of healthcare? Applied to be a business analyst for current company (1.5 years in) but am more interested in different industries. Thoughts?
I get there is no such thing as optimal 401k contribution as it varies by person but is 20% too much for someone just starting out? No ROTH offered
How can I become more “okay” with being an average performer? I’m two years out of school and have been considered a high performer so far, but it’s taken a toll on my mental health and I feel anxious most days. I’ve realized that the cost of being a high performer outweighs the benefits, and am trying to loosen up and be more comfortable with coasting on occasion... I’m what people may consider an insecure overachiever. Has anybody here ever had the same feeling?
Contacted by a recruiter from PwC, I have 4 yrs of experience in management consulting with a health background. Been doing mostly healthcare operations & strategy work—what area would I align @ PwC?
I see a lot of posts of overworked people here but anyone underworked too now that we are remote? Anyone working just 2/3 hours a day and still getting great feedback?
Honestly want to know if I am being unreasonable. My husband and I have worked f rom home since the start of the pandemic. Two kids 100% remote until two weeks ago when school started back up. I had to stop my work at 12:30pm every week day to make lunch for the kids and also made some for my husband to took it to his office nook. I typically don’t have time to stop and eat myself since I’m down at minimum those 30 minutes and I work in a bedroom so the smell of food in there is not desired…
I got a new job and was told that I can only roll over pre-tax 401k because the company does not offer roth 401k. I have a lot more money stored in roth 401k from my previous employer.. what should I do to keep it?
Which firms are still letting people expense overtime meals, aka WFH hasn’t changed expense-ability?
What are common exists for healthcare strategy folks? Specifically managers - possible to go into corporate dev for a provider?
Brainstorming on ways to increase connectivity among teams despite the 100% remote environment we find ourselves in at the moment (virtual HH seem to be getting old). Any ideas and/or things you have implemented at your company?
I've been working late most nights this week. In the office all week despite the WFH policy. Partner has seen me all day. I'm heading out at 5pm to pick my kid up from daycare since my husband has been doing it for me all week. And the partner says we need to catch up before the weekend. Dude. I told you I had to leave at 5pm today. I had another $75 added to my daycare bill this month for being late at pick ups. Don't look annoyed that you didn't come talk to me. I can call you from the car.
Just realized my firm offers a Roth 401k option. I’ve been contributing pre-tax but now not sure what to do. I know Roth is theoretically better, but is there any reason to do pre-tax? What about a combination of the two?
Moving to NYC next year, and my SO is based in Seattle. He is very keen to spend more time with me in NYC, even suggesting living there while remote working is still a thing. I’m a little hesitant bc we’ve only been dating for 2-3 months and it would feel like moving in tgt. Also not sure if i should be looking for a studio or 1br for more space but at a much higher price tag that i have to pay for. Any thoughts?
2 years out of undergrad and planning to apply next year. I had a great relationship with an SM and decent with a partner, but since starting remote work due to COVID I have had virtually no face time with leadership bc of the size of my team and my responsibilities. Mostly just venting but ugh how do I get LORs!!
Why is expense reimbursement so tough? Why hasn't anyone thought of improving the process yet? 🤐
Is anyone willing to share their hr budget per employee (excluding insurance/Heath benefits).
Recently laid off from Sr. Consultant role in energy in Houston. 4 years exp in supply chain/procurement and 2 in consulting (mainly tech PM work aka scrum). Have my MBA and PSM 1 cert. I know opportunities are far and few between right now, but looking for either energy or supply chain consulting role. Open to travel once resumed. If anyone is aware of a need, I'd appreciate the help!
What will be my approximate in hand salary? Thanks in advance - This will be the first time I will fall under tax slab 😅
Preschool classrooms often look so different from kindergarten classrooms. What are some of the ways you bridge the gap?
Does anyone know what the SA3 salary range is for advisory cohorts? I’m in risk assurance, but getting moved to advisory... our practice had a good year so I’m also hoping for a decent bump.
Has anyone ever taken a sick day? Actually charged the sick code and not worked while staffed?
I’m working on a project and the account leads are, in every sense of the word, useless, and yet have an incredible ‘holier than thou’ attitude towards telling everyone else what they should be doing.
Tips on interviewing with Deloitte? Aside from a case study what other questions should I expect
Of McKinsey Chicago, BCG Chicago, and Bain Chicago, which has the best WLB? Particularly for the entry level role?
Anyone heard of CrowdHealth for health insurance? Seems pretty good for a freelancer and someone who doesn’t usually go to the doctor that much but wants to be insured. https://www.joincrowdhealth.com/
Best office chair?! I’m WFH until at least Jan 22 and I need to upgrade my desk chair. Suggestions? I know the Herman Miller is awesome but would love to spend less than $1k. Around $400ish
Flew for the first time today. Woman next to me took her mask off immediately upon sitting down and starting chatting loudly with her son. I asked her politely if she could keep her mask on and she proceeded to spend the rest of the flight fake sneezing and laughing giving me the side eye to see my reaction. What an inspirational mother.
Has anyone taught Romeo & Juliet before? I am worried about the suicide scenes, as I have a few students who recently attempted suicide. How do you deal with that aspect in your classroom?
Are Deloitte layoffs over after tomorrow? S&O just let go 10-15% of the work force. More to come?
We have had an extremely tough start to the year. I am second guessing my decision to continue teaching (year 20). What are some options for teachers that don’t involve the classroom or direct sale
Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
