YOE is an important factor in comp, especially outside of consulting. You could become a “manager” in consulting in 4-5years out of undergrad, but that YOE will not always provide you a role that manages an area or a large team in the industry. And therefore, the salary commensurates with YOE
They also said that they’d need proof of income to change the bonus percentage at all.

They know B4 pay is terrible. Why pay a premium for B4 talent when they can lowball and still get people to come for the Facebook brand name? This is smart recruiting, albeit at the candidate’s expense.

Check out levels.fyi they have data points on Technical Program Manager - some of the salaries seem in line with you were offered but not for 5-8 YO relevant E. Maybe they deemed you had 1-3 years of relevant experience and put you at level 3, not 4
