Is getting a job at a low ranked VC firm more competitive than MBB? I’m new to consulting, heard this, and curious if it’s an accurate take

How is the current market for moving to another consulting firm? Currently at a T3 and was thinking about trying for MBB or T2 next year

Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?

I keep getting denied due to lack of experience but to even get the job I have now (case manager) the company knew one of my family members and they gave me a chance to interview because of that. What is the obsession and appeal for MBB among MBA grads? Is it really that amazing - from afar it seems like it may be romanticized (maybe not the right word) among applicants. I know it’s way better than the work I do now, so I’m not knocking MBB at all. It’s super impressive. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that MBA applicants seem to have a fairy tale view of consulting as a whole. I get the impression that people think a job in consulting is a magic ticket anywhere

I got a job offer at GSA in Washington DC for their pathway program from GS9-GS12. I currently work in a private company and wanted to switch to federal government. The reason I wanted to switch is to get good person for my family because I'm still in the Reserve and would be able to buy time for my retirement. My wife doesn't why I'm leaving the private company. I bought my house in Iowa and I live my family. Just need advice. Thanks

How necessary is an extracurricular for MBA apps? I work a ton of hours and don’t have a lot of time or interest in any activity that I could reasonably put on an app. I spend the little free time I have on activities I enjoy (spending time with SO and friends, working out, Netflix, etc). Would it be really bad if I had nothing in that section on my app beyond college extracurriculars? Or should I force some activity? I have enough time before I apply to make it look legit to adcoms.

Hi Everyone!

A company has made an offer and I wanted to understand if i'm being made a fool.

The monthly compensation is 1,37,500 (16,50,000 yearly) and Variable component (Bonus) is 1,50,000.

However in the offer it says "You shall be paid an annual compensation of Rs. 16,50,000/- per annum Cost to Company."

Which to me sounds like it doesn't consider 1,50,000 to be a part of CTC which is suspicious to me.

How should I deal with this?

On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact).
