Is it cringy to put your education status on LinkedIn example Jane Doe MBA

I don’t think that’s cringey at all. As long as you don’t have Harvard as your lead school when you only got an associates degree there, you’re good

like

I hate when people do that lol..

like

If you’re a student then I think it’s okay to say something like “MBA candidate ‘26.” If you’re a working professional it depends on the industry. For lawyers it’s generally frowned upon to use JD.

like
Recent IconRecent

It's dependent upon the industry, but for an MBA or JD, exceptionally cringy

likefunny

That's why I use DJ for mine, Doctor of Jurs'

likefunny

Not cringy. If you earned that degree, you should let people know.

likefunnysmart

No you should not, unless it’s a doctoral degree.

likefunny

The whole point of LI is to market yourself. Why the eff would you not put MBA in your title if you had it?

like

Also, the only people I know who put “MBA” after their name went to no name schools or programs. If I see if I assume this person didn’t go to a top school.

That one doesn't bother me as much as seeing the additional certs that people put on there: John Doe MBA,CSM, QSSP, PMP. Like why?

likefunny

Cause pimpin ain’t easy and they want everyone to know they’re certified in it

funnylike

Recruiter here: It may actually help when recruiters are searching, think keyword search algorithm. More importantly, please be sure you put it in the education section so you will come up in searches for candidates with a masters degree. It's not your real resume. It's social media on a professional level.

like

It’s more common than you think. Not sure why folks feel the need to.

like

Yes, but if you're not cringey on LinkedIn, the community will ostracize you.

like

When I see it my first thought is that they are trying too hard, but to each their own.

like

Feel like the standard should be certifications behind names only, since they are essentially equal. I.e. getting CPA certified is the same across the country. MBAs are most definitely not all equal. But at the end of the day, who cares it doesn’t hurt anyone

like

Only a T10 MBA will really make a difference. Agree with the above that having a job at Amazon is why recruiters would be reaching out

like

It depends. I think it might be advisable for people from historically marginalized communities to promote their credentials a little more aggressively, in order to get a second look. Not sure if this description fits your case though.

like

Idk maybe it helps when recruiters view them. I’d say not cringey. I’ve seen much worse.

like

Why is it "cringy" as you put it? If someone has worked hard to earn an education, there is no reason for someone not to highlight that, especially on LinkedIn, which is intended for professional networking and job searching.

like

No.

It’s supposed to be for licenses and certifications

No but I don’t do it

I believe at one time it was considered advisable. I think that trend has changed.

Depends on the type of education. Law and business tend to do it. Business moreso before they have decent experience. People in health-related professions do as well, like social workers. It gets a bit weird for social sciences like "M.Ed" for masters in Education.

In general it's not a form of "cringe".

Extremely cringey and the only people who do that have an inferiority complex because they got their MBA from some no-name program.

Let me guess - you got your MBA at Babson and put ", MBA" after your name on LinkedIn

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Summer 2023 will be the summer after sophomore year, so I'll be declining the full-time return offer and I'll be looking for a different internship after junior year.

I woke up today tired.

My work cell was buzzing and then I remembered something.

I forgot to thank the bus driver that dropped me off a few days ago.

I got up and rushed downstairs to find the bus driver.

It was raining outside but I was already running barefoot to the bus stop.

I stood there soaked in my pajamas as the bus approached.

Then, the door opened. The driver got up and shook my hand.

I sat down and started my shift.

I’m the bus driver. Reminder to love and thank yourself.
