Is it just me or is our line of work super limited in terms of transferable skill sets? I know I’m an associate but I’ve seen a good amount of work and recently passed my CISA exam. It all just makes me think that what we do is primitive and the ceiling is fairly low. Thoughts?

IT audit teaches you the ropes of security principles which is important but absolutely nothing beyond that - I did three years of it and by the end of it I still didn’t fully grasp what a server was 😂

Don’t hate the players, hate the game: there’s no incentive in the audit market to upskill IT auditors in technical IT because as in most cases, regulations that are supposedly risk-based end up being applied in a standardised manner for consistency, simplicity, and to leverage economies of scale, and do become a tickboxing exercise.

Same goes for financial controls: seen many an internal auditor having absolutely no clue about standard accounting practices

I owned a business for 6 yrs and had a B2C sales role for 3 yrs after (not SaaS). I’ve now been a B2B2C Key Account Manager at a Fitness Tech scale up for 6 mos and would like to be making more $ so am considering applying to other B2B SaaS companies. I currently own the entire (long) sales cycle from prospecting to account management. I’d like to stay in a similar role in another company. Will I have a difficult time landing an SDR/BDR, AE or CSM role elsewhere? I’m a 48 yo female.

Where can we get those details to check the required and expected things to go the next level?
How many levels in Staff? What is the min YOE is required to be a Senior?
How many months/years minimum we need to spend to be eligible for promotion (ex: minimum 1 year a person need to spend on one grade like that)

Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

Hello Guys,

I am in a super good position at Jellyfish as a Director with a good room in terms of growth. Great responsibilities, work life balance and I strongly love my job. However, there is an opportunity to join Google Dublin as an Agency Development Manager (level 4) with strong salary, new challenges, different role and responsibilities etc. I HAVE A STRONG DOUBT about a trade off: is better to have a strong margin of growth and a good position or join Google with the above conditions?

2) go do consulting for a few years
3) any other recommendations?
