Is it just me or is our line of work super limited in terms of transferable skill sets? I know I’m an associate but I’ve seen a good amount of work and recently passed my CISA exam. It all just makes me think that what we do is primitive and the ceiling is fairly low. Thoughts?

IT audit teaches you the ropes of security principles which is important but absolutely nothing beyond that - I did three years of it and by the end of it I still didn’t fully grasp what a server was 😂 Leave

funny

Don’t hate the players, hate the game: there’s no incentive in the audit market to upskill IT auditors in technical IT because as in most cases, regulations that are supposedly risk-based end up being applied in a standardised manner for consistency, simplicity, and to leverage economies of scale, and do become a tickboxing exercise. Same goes for financial controls: seen many an internal auditor having absolutely no clue about standard accounting practices

It's been a challenging year for me, including a rejection from GSAP. This week, I got into my top choice MBA program - and an M7 to boot! Just goes to show that sometimes Deloitte's decisions can be misaligned to the greater world. I hope that Deloitte gives me the chance to be a good brand ambassador - but at the point, it's up to the firm if I even consider coming back :)

Currently talking to a few small tech companies about the potential of a pre-MBA internship and they are inquiring about pay. I mainly want to do an internship for the experience and resume boost- money is not the motivation. However, I would still prefer to make a little cash through the experience.
