Might be able to swing AD in a small biotech, SM much more likely or honestly potentially even manager in a bigger pharma in this market
Had 5 YOE and ended up in an SM role, fast tracked for AD.
AD is only possible if you have enough super relevant experience
F. What function? I feel like probably SM. AD may be a stretch but curious others thoughts.
I’m an AD and have a JD plus 5 years as a healthcare lawyer before starting this role. A lot of my colleagues at this level have graduate degrees. I suppose it depends on the function though.
I support Market Access. It’s my main area of focus as counsel.
Type of experience is critical in MA. If it's related to say Medicare Part D focused reimbursement or access strategy for example, then yes, it's high in demand skill and small consulting firms which specializes in say 340B reconciliation etc stand a good chance irrespective of the academic background for AD. However, if it's the common experience of building strategy decks or pipeline analysis or forecasting or even use databases to support executive decision making, it's difficult to get beyond manager or SM in big pharma.
Although my title still says supervisor, I need to update this thing. I am now a Senior Manager for a very well known and large organization. I have ~10 years GMP experience, with 6 being in Pharma directly. I only have an associate's degree, but have made it to the final rounds of interviews for two of two AD roles I've applied for. Clearly, I wasn't selected. However, networking and developing a reputation of excellence has propelled me beyond many of my peers, that started in the industry at around the same time as me; Many having Bachelor's and Master's degrees. I have been called an anomaly, but that probably has more to do with my witty reparté and stellar good looks.
M / SM is possible. AD would be a stretch unless you have a client who wants you
