Is the firm you were at for 4 years paying for your MBA? And is it a top 10 MBA? I've seen people return as manager after that.
If you're going to a new firm, then a promo hire seems extremely unlikely unless you go to a random boutique instead of the usual suspects who recruit a lot of MBAs. You are not the first person to go consulting-mba-consulting, and it isn't clear you merit some sort of exception.
