Is it possible to transition from Accounting to Trading or IB internally in a big bank? Or is it just as hard as applying from the outside?

Very difficult. An easier path would be audit > FDD > IB

Or get a top 15 MBA

I've seen people go from public accounting -> middle office role at big bank -> front office role at same bank. I think it's harder if you're in accounting in the bank

like

Lol accounting role at bank is deep back office

funny

From the same position at an outside bank? Harder. From a more relevant position outside of the bank? Easier

The key is that you’ll be able to network much more easily having a company specific email. The challenge will be convincing the other groups you’re not just an accountant

Looking for help in settling a debate on creating an eye catching LinkedIn headline. Let’s say the two headlines in question are:

1. Senior Social Media Manager (Actual Job Title)
2. Senior Manager, Social Media (Proposed Headline)

Questions are…

1. Would you interpret the responsibilities of the person holding each title differently? If so, how?

2. Is having Option 2 as a headline is misleading? Even if Option 1 is the title in your experience section & on your resume?

Hi scientists/engineers

I am currently working as a data analyst with close to 3 years of experience, from a non CS background and want to switch to a data scientist profile. I need a bit of guidance on how to proceed.
Should i do self study? Should i take up some online course? What should be the syllabus? (Considering it is vast and ever expanding).
My goal is to make this happen within 6 months.
Any insight would be highly valuable! Feel free to DM or comment below 😊. TIA

Has anyone ever posted a general marketing position? We have an open position on our marketing team but we are unsure what type of position to offer. We have a wide variety of needs but don’t necessarily need to have this future person have all these skills. For example we need someone with great copywriting skills and also need someone who is great at digital marketing. This person doesn’t necessarily need to have both skills but if they did great, but if only one, great too.

Is it allowed for a company to file a Green Card without applying for an H1B?

Interested in making a move but I struggle sometimes between whether to go with the big name company/firm where I’ll make tons and everyone knows them or a smaller company/firm that is not as well known but I’m actually happy with the work I do and not wanting to jump off a bridge every night. It’s some kind of internal conflict that I can’t seem to resolve. I know what I want but it feels like I’m always having to sacrifice something: wlb, money, something else. 🤷‍♀️

I have been invited to move up to the junior partner level in my mid-sized insurance defense/medical malpractice defense firm, but the terms essentially make me an independent contractor. What does your firm's junior partner track look like? I have been offered 50% of all income brought in, but I have to deal with my own insurance, pay all my own benefits, and handle my own insurance. Is this normal?

Another annoying question from someone who isn’t in-house (yet). Anyone have thoughts on how fast things typically (understanding that each company is different) move once interviews and writing samples are done? Had my screened and 3 sets of callbacks in pretty rapid succession last week, and submitted my writing samples on Tuesday to my HR contact, but I haven’t heard anything since.
