Is HCL providing WFH setup cost to new joiners?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

Please have some perspective OP. This is a global issue that has impacted other countries a lot more than the US. WPP is over 100k people across the world. Each country has completely different stages and responses so as Ogilvy rightly pointed out, because you don’t agree with the wording, stop complaining about how you have taken the email. I’m sorry you don’t feel comfortable enough to make your down decision but it is not unreasonable that a global email goes out saying wherever possible they are trying to maintain as much normality. Please also consider other people - offices have third party cafes, mail rooms, facility departments, who can only do their job from the office. There is a lot to factor in and figure out. WPP have said work from home and we are not expected to go in, really don’t understand what more you need.
Yes, CD1. Let’s all protect the poor millionaire. 🤵🎻
There’s others that don’t have that option, so quit whining how something was worded on an email.
@VML, KCRs are key client relationships. The top 10-15 most profitable clients in an agency. The ones who leadership often break the rules for and protect at all costs, even when their morality and ethics are comprised.
At least you can work from home...
Oh yeah, if we don’t feel comfortable, if we don’t feel safe and if our clients don’t need us on-site. So empowered over here...
Literally the first sentence in the email says priority is well-being of employees. And “Wherever possible, we will be asking you to work remotely.” - directly from the email. What more do you need?! Understand if your own agency leadership have not communicated to you, but no WPP employee is expected to go into the office. If you or others feel differently, you really should discuss with you manager because that is absolutely not what should be happening. Do not go in, and if you have a team, they should not go in.
I still don’t understand what you’re really complaining about. Is it the fact that your agency is still opened for biz and not closed?
Apparently it's a legal thing that they have specify that our policy is MRW not WFH. Might be something in client contracts?
Good info to know. 👏🏼
