It depends on the person. Some may think, that dude has dope a watch. Then others may think, that dude must be privileged and has to come from parents money to afford that. But I’m on team who cares what others think. U do u
I never wear a watch but parents granted me a property in Manhattan, a property in LA, along with other trusts, etc. I drive an average jeep Cherokee and can keep everything down to earth and go unnoticed. I still own lots of HMs. Those like to flex their wealth are usually not that rich to begin with.
It sounds like you and your parents should take this offline to ensure align on KPI’s
Most people won’t be able to tell
No point wearing a Rolex if all it tells you is when your lunch break is over
I like the way u think
Congrats! Which rolex? Also you should join the luxury watch bowl
Firm believer in doing whatever you personally want to do (within reason). I’m 24 and my ex fiancé gave me two of his, and I always wear them when I’m in the office. They’re beautiful and elegant!
where do I find myself an ex-fiancé like that………
My advice is just be reasonable. When I see a 22-23 year old consultant wearing a two tone submariner, ESPECIALLY on a client site, it immediately comes off as tone def. Clients know we are expensive, there’s no need to be flashy. Otherwise, watches are great and I like collecting them too, just be mindful of the situation.
If I had a 2 tone sub I’d wear it everyday lol
What city are you in? Colleagues in NY will be much more for it than most Midwestern cities.
If you wear it for you because you love it, I don’t think most will really care or have a negative reaction. Conversely if you shove it in everyone’s face, that’s not great.
Last point is that within your own office is probably fine, but I would hold back in front of clients. It can rub the wrong way to be paying a thousand dollars an hour for a 23 year old and that ‘kid’ comes in wearing a watch that costs as much as your car.
Hahah understandable. I am in NY. Don’t plan on wearing at clients but I do love to wear it. I am not here to flex a Rolex I am truly just a horology geek.. thanks for the advice!
Wear it just like I wear my richard mille
Fancy G-shock
Ball till u fall homie. They hate u cuz they ain’t u. Lions don’t worry about the opinion of sheep
Hahahha hell yeah
I think wearing something like that today is much different that 20 years ago. At the end of the day, you just have to be yourself. I just turned 41 and when I graduated college in 2003, my dad gave me his Gold Presidential Rolex (ironically, the watch he bought when he made Partner at EY back in the day). To this day, I have worn it maybe 5 times in my life. That watch symbolizes more of my relationship with my Dad (who is my best friend) than the status it represents. Now, 20 years ago, I would have never of dreamed of wearing it to my first job because It would have set a bad perception. But now, in this day and age and as I have grown older with a different outlook, I would have told my 21 year old self "Just be you and wear it if you want or don't if you do not want to. Don't let anyone's opinion matter to you".
I’m 23 with a Rolex and most people don’t notice. I paid a lot of money for my datejust so I wear it everyday. Tbh, I could careless what people think… If someone has an issue they’re probably upset they can’t afford it.
Nobody cares lol
Nah just wear it, also a young consultant and watch collector
Don't restrict yourself because of being worried on how others will view you. That's their problem, not yours
-daily wearer of blue/gold submariner for 8 years. I'm 25. Rich parents? Not really. My mom was a stay at home mom and invested when she was in her early 20s. Had a nest egg and spent a bunch spoiling her kids. Hence rolex at 18. Otherwise I live a pretty middle class (single earner household dad made $130k growing up) life. Instead of family vacations my family chose to buy all the kids cars and stuff for whatever their hobbies were (mine was watches)
Yo just do what you want. If you want a Rolex go for it. Until I was 16 my family was below the poverty line and we got food from the church. The day I got my first paycheck I bought a Chanel bag.
Flex on the haters boo
How young? If a new analyst was wearing a flashy Rolex in my office I'd think it was a bit cringe, but salaries in London are much lower so that may change things
I’m 24 and it’s a steel date just nothing flashy tbh if you didn’t know watches you prob wouldn’t notice
Other than watch people no one will care. Unless it is a gold day date lol
Rich parents bro. Or really really bad financial literacy
I think it's fine but it's definitely going to be a generational issue. If you interact with a lot of Boomers regularly, they aren't going to like it
I wouldn't worry about what other think, especially considering you bought it yourself!!
