Agree that you should try and maximize the credentials Deloitte is willing to pay for, especially if you have a couple of tests under your belt. I will say though, after 1 year, you don’t really know what the exit ops are and I can tell you even from tax there are much more than going into a client tax dept
Pivot ASAP. The sooner you leave, the less likely you’ll be pigeon-hole into a tax role. Otherwise, like you said, go for your MBA but that won’t be until a few years down the line if you want DT to pay for it. Try applying to boutique firms.
Most PE/IM clients hire analyst from audit, not tax. Choose a different exit opp or pivot.
Agreed. I’m in PE tax and finding a IM/PE job as even a manager is hard. Staff/senior is unlikely.
Am I correct in this line of thinking? I don’t think staying in tax if I want a diff role is helping me. Exit ops seem limited to client tax departments for the most part.
Try to pivot to transaction advisory and get an mba! That's probably your shot to break into PE
