Then tell them you’ll wait until the to join as SM
I agree to SM1 here, don’t believe anything they say

Never believe promo promises. It is not unlikely that your medium term earning will be higher but the immediate situation will simply be more work for same money.

Agreed with the other reply...don’t succumb to their empty promises. If they’re saying they’ll promote you in the immediate future, then push back and tell them to offer it to you now otherwise you’ll pass.
Yep, a promise of a fast track promotion is never enforceable. Once you’re in, you join the queue of other M’s for promotion, all of whom will have much stronger relationships than you
Agree with previous responses. This is private sector, they should be paying more. They know that and can afford it. If they want you, they'll make it worth your time, especially since there will likely be increased demands on you. If they're so sure you'll be promoted to SM soon, then they should be confident enough in your quals to bring you in as that now, or at the very least as on the high end of pay for manager. Assurances are worthless, actions (and pay) are what counts. Don't let yourself be duped.
That’s my dilemma. They say my current sal is in the maxing out at the top for the Manager band. Also, the position was advertised for a Manager role.
As someone that bought into a similar promise of fast track. I would say the recruiter is BSing, if its the same pay stay where you are and keep your sanity.

Nope.
You also don't want to join at the top of a salary band. It means you won't get any material payrises.
For promotions you will still be in the same rat race as everyone else with the handicap that no-one knows who you are.
Nope. Tell them your number and dictate your terms. Even if immediate SM promotion is true, your SM salary will likely fall behind your SM peers
Assurance rarely works, but what works is your performance and political capital
What’s the comp?
Wouldn’t
I would ask them to put the promise of a promotion into the offer letter. I’m guessing they won’t, but it gives you leverage to call their bluff.
Unless a promise is in writing in a contract I would never rely on it.

Immediate future is now. Get that bag
Is there a cheaper form of compensation than promises?
I wont rely 100% on the promises of a promotion
