CPA is 1000x more valuable than CMA. Only real value of CMA is the material it teaches you, which while important, doesn't come close to overcoming CPA.
I would first pass the BAR … with both a CPA and BAR you can command any salary. If you get bored you can always go for a CFA too.
My goal is to stop being an accountant, so I guess that'd be the answer. Thanks.
CMA is embellishment value, no market value. Though good one to add on as the 3rd , 4th certification to your name especially if it’s company paid & you don’t have to study much .
I have both but would definitely prioritize CPA. CMA is valuable in that it that it provides a lot of the cost accounting topics that CPA glosses over or skips. CMA has also proven to be more valuable when job searching abroad but if you are USA-based then CPA is gold standard and not even close. LOE wise, CMA was easier and took maybe 50-60% the time to study for. Feel free to DM if any questions.
I would recommend spend your time and energy on the CPA first.
I'm currently working on getting both as well with my first CMA exam scheduled in a few days.
However, the CPA is the gold standard and the one that is recognized so definitely make sure you prioritize the CPA.
I plan on working for a manufacturing firm once I leave PA and the management accountant material in the CMA is top notch.
Is the CPA worth it?
Don’t bother with CPA. CFA is where the money is at 💯 Much harder though, but also much more prestigious. CPA is a cake walk comparatively
P2. Sure you did 😂
Oh and CMA… I have no idea what that is or what it’s for, or why people spend time on that designation. That should tell you enoguh about it 😂
