Very different. LA is filled with A holes. SD is mostly friendly people.
Yes people are less approachable in LA. There’s also a lot more to do. LA is the hotter, but snottier sister of SD and you’ll kinda get to like her even if she’s a bitch to you 😏
BCG1. Don't go to LA.
Agreed with DD1. Don’t come here! It’s awful! I promise! 🤫😎🌤🌊🥑🥗🥟🍱🍸⚾️🏈⚽️🚵🏻♂️🎟🎥🎸🎷⛵️🎢🏰🏖🌄🌇🐶
For California, yes. Compared to the rest of the country? Not really
Very large pay increase. Very.
People love to hate on LA (myself included), but the city can/does grow on you. Everyone loves SD except me and I’ve spent extensive time there. Point is: don’t take what everyone says at face value. You should visit both and then decide what works for you. The cities draw different types of people.
LA is great. I lived there for 8 years and was sad to move on. It’s definitely a city of distinct neighborhoods, so take the time to find the right spot for you. There are a lot of good options for young families. What part of town would you be working in? That will be the best way to narrow down the list of neighborhoods
I don’t like the heat so I can only live 5 miles from the coast. So places like Santa Monica, Long Beach , Manhattan beach etc
On this topic. I have opportunity to relocate to LA. I assume there r big differences in various nearby towns/sections. Any insights would be helpful (family w 2 elementary kids).
I was offered a 110% pay increase to move from Dallas to LA three years ago in a new job. I rejected it on the phone right away itself. Not worth it whatsoever
YMMV, of course
BCG 1, "opportunity" is a strong word...
That said, Long Beach is OKish
There are several offices w this company, but likely would be toward the south side. Would be good to hear some color on different neighborhoods.
DD1, you're confusing Deloitte with the rest of the country.
