Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

It depends on your salary. The cheaper you are the longer you’ll stay. For creative departments it’s why so many groups have one overwhelmed and overworked CD, two overworked ACDs, maybe 2 seniors, 2 mid-levels, and an army of cheap juniors.
No, it's not a bad time to find another job. In fact, it might be a good time to start looking. Layoffs are happening in many companies, so there is a good chance that you will find another job soon. Also, hiring freezes are usually temporary, so if you are patient, you will eventually get an offer.
It is never a bad time to find a new job if you are proactive about it. Keep your resume updated and be active on job boards and social media. If you hear about people getting laid off, don't panic; instead, use it as an opportunity to network with other professionals in your industry
Companies hire and lay off for a variety of reasons. I think it’s a lot more nuanced and varies way more wildly than just a trend of “we’re entering a recession there’s going to be layoffs“.
Sometimes during a boom you have a leader that wants to structure a large team a certain way that leader departs the new leader comes in doesn’t see the value people get laid off.
Revenues ebb and flow sometimes people need to come in sometimes people need to go.
Sometimes the team is overstaffed in anticipation of increased scope that goes away, sometimes has to do with the economy often it just has to do with the unique business that the company is in, and those dynamics, client relationships if applicable.
For every company in decline during a recession there’s probably one or more that are growing. During the last big recession the company I worked for grew revenues by over 50% year over year we were killing it, hiring like crazy.
Go to where the opportunity is and where you see lots of upside: that’s where you want to hitch your wagon, and that can be found in any economy.
