How much does a cyber risk manager at EY make?
We only let OSCP certified individuals conduct advanced pen test and red team engagements so yes, it’s worth it if that’s what you want to focus on.
OSCP got me a new job as a full time pen testing role which increased my salary for sure.
If you have the time, I’d recommend trying out other resources first (like TryHackMe, HackTheBox, VulnHub, etc) to comfortably get into developing your methodology and gain exposure. I signed up for the OSCP with 90 day lab access but with working full-time and other things going on in my life, it was hard to juggle learning from reading the manual and lab time and staying dedicated to popping boxes within a short amount of time. I did not pass my first time, and it can get pricey to reschedule, request more lab access, etc. I wish I had done more on HTB and other free/cheaper resources before tackling OSCP. Plus you can find lists of HTB/VulnHub boxes that are very similar to boxes you experience on the OSCP, so it’s quality study time anyway.
When I worked in EY in Singapore it was mandatory for every fresh grad to get it within 6 months or risk not getting promoted at the end of the year. Additional bonuses were present for CREST. OSCP was the baseline.
I enjoyed getting mine, very good learning experience and also teaches you patience and perseverance.
Why? It’s literally a requirement in order to work on government contracts and most financial services.
So if they don’t have CREST/OSCP we can’t assign much work to them.
We also gave them 1 day off a week dedicated to study.
OSCP will help in the beginning stages of your career in offensive sec. It is a beginner cert.
So worth it! Probably the best one imo. Next to the giac equivalent
Would love to sidebar on this. Share experiences…may be something i look to as well
Yes and no
Do it! Good for independent consulting as well if you want to do something else as your day job
Following. I’m also looking to get into pen testing and was informed I’ll need this cert to do pen test projects.
I’ve been doing TryHackMe courses in the meantime but would love to know other resources (I.e HackTheBox) not just for the cert but just to generally be a good pen tester digitally and physically
Oh my god dude this is the website I tried a long time ago and was trying to re-find wow thank you. I did a whole bunch of the intro lessons back in the day
How does sans network penetration testing and ethical hacking stack up?
You bet let me know if you have any other questions! OSCP is way more recognized than GPEN now for penetration testing (wasn’t the case 5 years ago)
