Is there another round of layoffs coming or just rumor mill?

Have an offer to start at Deloitte in July in Org Transformation consulting. If it doesn’t get pushed out because of the virus, is it a good time to switch firms in July? Concerned that layoffs may be imminent if I am so new to the firm. I will be coming in at the Consultant level if that matters.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? I have the most terrible coping mechanisms in that I binge eat/mindlessly scroll through social media. It’s hard to break this cycle but I’m hoping to replace these with healthier/less harmful coping mechanisms. What works for you when you’re stressed?
