I have $500 as a Director. It's a very small amount for an entire year. Ridiculously small! Very much wish I could give more awards that are substantive.
I dunno how it works at Deloitte, but recognition awards are taken out of their Annual Expense budget. I know two amazing Senior Managers but they don't give out recognition awards since they'd rather spend it on great team dinners/etc. so we have super generous team budgets but will not give out recognition awards.

If you are a manager or above you have an allocated $ you can give out to whoever you want as recognition in $25 increments. I think the pool for manager is about $30 and directors/SM have $500. They may have burned through it already or forgotten it's there.

It's $250 for Mgrs and $500 for Directors. Most people forget they have it though. Lots of awards given out late June before FYE
D1, you may want to check again. In my practice (and I assume firm wide), recognition awards are hit against the recipient cost center. You can also give awards out of your project budget. I've never been hit on my personal expense account with an award.
