Im a third year associate and I’m frequently asked to give presentations (on new case law, legislation, ect.) during a weekly meeting for my section. There’s a first year associate and a law clerk in my section who are never asked to present. Should I push back on this? Would it look bad if I delegate some of the work to the others? I spend a lot of non billable time prepping for these presentations...it seems unfair that I’m the only one who has to do them.
What are your average billable hours? Month / year? What type of practice are you in? Are you on the Cravath scale? What associate year?
Does anyone run a business in addition to their firm? I’m a solo and I’m doing pretty well with about 60-70 billable hours a month. Though that leaves a lot of downtime. Curious if anyone has any second businesses that require about 20 hours a week. Not looking for passive income or franchise ideas though.
Out of curiosity: how much time do you spend actually logging and tracking your billable hours every day?
Have any of the independent contractors in this bowl ever had a kick-back clause in their contracts - meaning, have you had to pay a rebate/kick-back based off of your previous year's billable time?
2,158 hours contracted a year. Tax season: 55 hour week minimum with 90% billable time. You?
Do you all count the time you’re spending towards learning a new software (eg. reading help guides, administrator guides, user guides, configuration guides) towards billable time?
I'm finishing my first year as an associate in Minneapolis and am considering a move to Boston (originally from the East Coast). Can anyone in the area give some insight into general billable requirements, salaries, and quality of life as a young associate? Or just your experiences as Boston/NE attorneys. Thanks!

How many days is it acceptable to have 0-3 billable hours when you know a storm is coming?
I hate open floor plan offices. It’s challenging to focus/ be productive in open environments. No I don’t want to talk every 25 minutes to my coworkers. I want to do my job and go home. Every time you interrupt me, I have to stay here longer to hit billable hours.
Ever been promoted at your firm while on a project and you have to be rolled off bc your billable rate is higher than what the client has budgeted? Or does your firm find this as an opportunity to renegotiate the SoW?
Is anyone willing to share billable requirements and salaries for mid-sized, Chicago market?
I know these scenarios are posted all the time but… Iateralled last month/ super slow/ need support that l’m ok lol. Was super busy the first 2 real weeks of work but have been slow since the holidays (25-30 billable hours per week). Any support/ recommendations to ease the anxiety greatly appreciated :) My last firm was quite toxic and basically shamed me for ever having a slow day
What do you do at the end of the month in ID when you have some days needing 3-4 more billable hours. The clients are so strict with billing…

How often do you talk to your staff and director? Started a new job in industry and we are still WFH. I’m still pretty new and would normally stop by to talk to people. We don’t have regular team meetings. So I guess Skype message is my only option, but check in once a week? This is outside of work emails, just to chat. I don’t want to be annoying and want to get to know my new coworkers. Any advice appreciated for this introvert.
I wanna have a suggestion to my idea, I have served around 3 yrs in Medical billing as an AR caller and thinking of moving to different career such as web developer.. Just went through the final round for a product market manager position and have been told unofficially I’ll get an offer, but not really sure it’s a good move. Offer is 125K plus RSUs, and bonus (not sure the percentage but likely low teens). The base is only slightly above what I make as an SC at Deloitte. Thoughts? Not really sure what the exits are PMM roles.
Ever since the new year started I am extremely unmotivated and tired of this job. Depressed. I woke up with a sore throat and I’m getting excited for a Covid diagnosis just so I can take off for a few days. But what’s worse is that so many of my coworkers have been working while they have Covid. Is there any escape?
I feel like a made a mistake turning down a job offer that had better benefits a bit more money.

Curious about what base and bonus have looked like in the past, specifically for the healthcare group (HIG). Also interested in seeing what comp for other A&M groups look like for analysts.
