I use AI almost daily to help me complete menial tasks that before would have taken up hours of my time. I then use that extra time to become more efficient in how I help my students. High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. I can’t even decide if I should go digital or paper-based let alone make a final decision! I’ll be teaching 9-11th grade math and 11th grade science. The 11th grade classes I can very much do whatever I (or the student) want/need…there isn’t a set curriculum

Question about IEP goals if anyone can help. If a student has an OT goal (say being able to zip coat or put on shoes without assistance) and the IEP says person responsible is the OT, is that all on them? I understand I could also work on it too in class but when IEP comes, they are responsible for writing the IEP portion and talking about that? Same with speech and language provider?

Without warning it looks like we'll be switching from consultant teaching to inclusion...what do I need to know. Never co-taught or done inclusion except for years and years ago and it was very informal. Best ways to build a solid relationship with the classroom teacher you're paired with? I have a parent that I questioning the accommodations we are providing to her daughter. Accommodations can be amended but the student does not do any work at home. Help!

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.
