If your boss can't articulate a time line, path, and goals to get there then it's time to leave. I am slightly behind but I remember that I still like my current role, work with good people and make good money. Making it to partner principal is more about ego for me than anything else. Look around, what you have today might not be that bad.
Ask directly for developmental feedback - tell people you are aiming for promotion and you need some coaching and feedback to get there. Your peer who is getting promoted- what are they doing that you're not? If you look at them objectively, what are they doing that you could replicate? It stings when peers overtake you and it can be unfair, but sometimes it is the right choice for the business. Learn, be open to feedback, and dust off your CV just in case you need to move elsewhere to get the promotion you are seeking. Good luck!

Sounds like it is time to leave. If they are ignoring your work and not making a clear path for you, then it is time for you to head out to some thing else. Listen to what they are telling you, both with their words and actions. Seems very clear
Do you have a trusted mentor/sponsor at work who can offer any insight? None of us know why that person is getting it before you, but it could be that they had the right person in the room vouching for them.

Exactly what EY 1 said, people can’t read your mind. There are a few organizations that have gone to feedback within their HR platform. Check to see if that’s there for you. If not ask directly for feedback from your most crucial work relationships whether that be a stakeholder or a peer. I would also think about getting yourself a mentor, look around at your organization to the people that you truly respect, ask yourself what do you like about them as far as their work goes and then ask them to mentor you. If you are serious about work and your career, you will always have a mentor.
First be glad you got a job. Second accept the fact you are not going anywhere. Third simplify your lifestyle payoff as much debt as possible save at lease a years salary. Prepare for the worst
You are a VP it’s a unique thing looking from the bottom up hearing that. You have so much authority but it’s on the head of a pin. Can’t jump ship especially in this market. Make sure you got some connections above you and play a lot of golf with the boys. Survive until the time you cant. Make sure you land soft
