Hi Fishes, Any senior staff engineer here, role associate project manager at Nagarro. I would like to know more details about project allocation and work you do. I recently got selected as one. I can see a lot of heat from developers against nagarro here but what about mid level management such as associate project manager!??
TIA

I don't know you but try to motivate yourself. Holidays is almost here then you can relax reset and fire up the engine again.
The market right now is tough, so please keep the hard work 💪🏿
It's indescribably tough, but hybrid jobs are demanding a LOT for companies who pay no airfare or relocation. In the 1980s, companies trained people they hired, and if you needed to move they paid for it. That being said, relocation expenses were tax deductible until Paul Ryan managed to pass the Tax and Jobs Act, which says military active duty relocations are deductible. However, if you are active duty, you don't pay a dime. They take care of your every need, maybe not on salary but they know how to move people for sure.
Burn out can be psychologically and physically draining.
Based om what you shared it appears that you are in a high-pressure and potentially toxic work environment due to lack of leadership support/empathy?
Do you have options to take time off work, like vacation/medical leave?
Are you working with a therapist/counsellor to mange your stress, build wellness habits into your professional & personal life?
In this economy I would never recommend quitting, but I do recommend priotizing self care via:
- Medical/Personal support
- Investigating and implementing all legal boundaries to protect against harassment, overwork, and overall employer abuse
- Looking into professional coaching that will help you with tools, training, and resources to make your current role easier to manage, as well as move you into a higher paying role that creates more personal freedom and professional joy.
As someone who has dealt with 2 breakdowns due to burnout and now struggling to land a new role after being laid off, I speak from experience when I say TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST, PLEASE!!!
Exactly. My last company burned out two people. One was a lawyer and married to a doctor. He took two weeks off, went to France with his wife and kids, and his boss agreed to remove him from the project. Our esteemed client was in the habit of torturing him with random emails at night, interrupting him. All she had to do was figure out what schedule send is.
Our next victim was a small business owner who is very sweet, and had the misfortune of being with my firm which is a subcontractor rather than the prime. She quit after our client pissed her off. (And, two weeks off overseas.) Landed at another federal client, got bored and is now working someplace else.
I was first to get laid off due to emailing my daily summary as instructed, rather than putting it in Excel as desired within my client's imagination. My EOR isn't much of a GIS firm, thus I must sail the sea of job listings until homeless with my family blaming me for what I never chose.
Employers, be less picky. Accept 80% skills match and 110% effort. Nobody is born knowing how to make a map, except possibly my friend David as he started at age 5.
Thus my timesheet was apparently a lie, when really it was simply blank as all the data existed where my PM asked it to go. 90% of the time I was the first to send it on time.
"I can barely force myself to get much done".
Have you explored the possibility that you are depressed?
A few people have mentioned self care so I strongly encourage you to do so.
Are you lacking motivation in work only or other parts of your life?
If work only, prioritise the important tasks and focus on these. If focus is a problem, start with a short burst of focused work at a time.
Good luck and rediscover your work mojo.
You have the right to refuse unreasonable requests if you're in Ireland anyway. What you do is be careful never to use the word no.
You simply say 'in order for me to be reasonably expected to do this, i need the following things: x, y, z. If they won't agree to do those things, say you're sorry but you feel the situation is unhealthy, unsafe and you can't be reasonably expected to meet these demands. They need to bring in an extra person or delegate more fairly.
Find out more about the workload of your peers - if they're not doing as much as you, make a note of it. You may find yourself in a position where you have to raise that and ask why more was continuously expected from you, even at unsafe levels as if they were intentionally trying to do something there.
Please note theres a chance theyre doing this to make it impossible for you to meet performance targets because they intend to get rid of you and are covering their backs by giving you a bad performance review first. This is a very common practice since 2021. Especially at this time of year!
Thanks for the advice and support. I was able to find a new job paying more. If its for you then its for you and if its not … I hope the new job is better but only time will tell. I know in my heart, my that company was not for me.
Also, if you have enough money to relocate in the bank...keep the job you have?
This blog has some very practical ideas for burnout, maybe a few would be helpful for you. Vacation is a good thing when you're feeling this way too.

Take medical leave on mental health grounds. Not sure where you live but companies "cant" fire you if on medical leave. check your terms of contract and your entitlements, No heroes in the graveyard!!! Best of luck and take care.
a lot of ppl do that. I was wondering if I was a 10x eng but then I realized ppl were working slow for their own job security and mental wellbeing. 10x more naive.
I am sorry to hear that OP. It sounds to me like it might be time to look for something else.Severe burnout can realy affect your mental health and for me a job just isn't worth it. I would start looking to see what other opportunities are out there.
Don't quit the job, suck it up and stay quiet about your issues otherwise you will find yourself on the shortlist of folks getting laid off. It is easier to find a job while you have one, and the market is very competitive.
Maker sure when you leave the office do washup time: 5 minutes before you go turn off your computer, use the bathroom, and throw cold water on your face. Then don't think about work till tomorrow when you walk in the door. When the call comes at 3am sleep thru it.
Another option you have is to reach out to your HR dept and tell them that you need time off for mental health. Short term leave will get you up to 10 days in most cases, FMLA can you you months worth of down time, etc. You have more options than just "deal with it" or "screw you quit if you feel that way".
Maybe try a “measure what matters” system approach in appealing to your manager.
It can be tough to upsell it to higher management until they see a win it for themselves.
It’s a great tool to focus on goals: align support towards goals, measure its success and if it’s worth repeating.
I’ve found people who burnout typically care more about the customers and the company than those above who are not open to ideas to implement improvements.
If that’s the case leaving your current situation will likely open doors to better opportunities.
Focus on reaching goals not getting around obstacles.
Good luck.
Seems like your boss can't relate to his underlings. You need a change and its tough looking for new job at this time of year. But don't give up! Find something relaxing to do and recharge but put your health first.
I’ve had a challenging year where I struggled with frequent illnesses and mental health issues, which led to significant expenses on private healthcare. It made me realize how important it is to break free from unhealthy work environments and prioritize work-life balance.
If you're in a similar situation, it might be worth reflecting on whether your workplace genuinely values employee well-being. Sometimes, focusing on your core responsibilities while planning your next steps elsewhere can be the healthiest choice. Unfortunately, toxic work cultures rarely improve, so finding a more supportive environment might be the best path forward. Shitholes never change.
Make sure you got a job before you leave….. I hope you are in a location that gives you unemployment benefits if they fire you
I am so sorry you are going through that. Good luck 🍀
This is sad because I and many others are looking for positions such as this and cannot get hired in. Burnout is real and companies that don’t respect it will have problems hiring and retaining great PMs. In the meantime take care of yourself, by taking time for yourself. This cannot be good for you’re health. Do what’s necessary for yourself.
I'm with your leadership on this one. If one of my staff came to me and said not to give them another project then I'd be asking, then what the hell are you here for?
Take some time off and get a recharge, then come back to work with a fresh attitude. There are many out there right now saying "Put me in, coach!"
