I can absolutely relate and it’s the same where I work. Training always get blamed when something doesn’t go right but managers will not take accountability or put the time and effort in collaborating with us.
I’ve worked in several organizations and in each one this was the case. Rarely is there money for systems, time to do the training, or real buy in until an issue occurs and they need training to “save the day”.
Look the an organization that doesn’t just say they invest in their people but actually does it (and has a bonafide budget for it). They are rare but if you don’t look you won’t find it.
Find a CLO (Cheif Learning Officer) and follow where they are (or have just left). If the Org hired another CLO, then they are in to win and put $$$ where their KPIs/OKRs are. And if you DON'T understand why this is so important, then send some time as an L&D consultant. Generalist is not the place to stay, and even pure Facilitators are being asked to upskill their "global business acumen" in this environment. Oh, and fully ready to move in and out of any industry. Your worth should never be in the content, itself. Your worth needs to be in helping LOBs "move their needles" with trackable data. Good luck!
