Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

I bought a timer, it has a vibrate mode (designed for therapist) and I keep it set for 25 minutes (yes the pomodoro method but the physical timer and the vibrate make a difference for me). So I start my timer and like meditation I keep bringing my thinking back on task. So I get stuff done, then I stand up, do some arm circles and do it again. Yes laundry and cat holding interfere it is far from perfect but it helps when I can’t concentrate.
So I also tried converting my gaming room to a working space and that was really hard for me to focus in. I definitely associated that space with fun and I would get muscle memory for what I do in my free time. I think trying to set it up so your recreation space is not the same as your focus space (even just using a different side of the same room) helped me a lot.
It is a real struggle with limited space in an apartment, though. Most of us didn't set up or furnish with a home office in mind.
2 bedroom, 7 year old distance schooling, and partner transitioning to WFH. I was doing a similar grind in college as well. I agree removing yourself from any recreational areas is a must. Even if I don't actively get distracted I will day dream.
As for my family I keep strict boundaries based on the pomodoro method. 25min work 5min of attention to them, then after 4 pomodoros, 30min between what I want to do and my family. Not perfect but it's workable. I think a lot of us feel the struggle though. You aren't alone.
I got lucky and had just moved to this apartment with a den when covid hit, so the den is my distraction free workspace! As for staying focused I have regular walk breaks at the same times I used to do them at the office. That helped a whole lot. Also my walk buddies get on a conference call and take walks with me so we’re still chatting at the same times like we used to.
I find that my productivity ebbs and flows a lot in the WFH environment. In addition to pomodoro, I have also tried using different types of sound to help- sometimes it silence, sometimes it’s koshi chimes, sometimes drumming, ambient music, binaural beats and some days it’s a podcast or regular good old music. You can also try different desk placements as well. Sometimes that makes a difference from an energetic perspective. Being able to accept whatever comes helps also. Nothing like feeling unproductive and then beating yourself up for it. I’ve noticed that sometimes I work more odd hours. But mostly lately I’ve felt chained to the computer and unable to out from under the meaningless day to day tasks that repeat themselves over and over again.
