It is against firm policy to use your own card for business travel expenses. Hotels, airlines etc. Should have been mentioned during your orientation. You will get audited if you don't follow through. Multiple violations will result in leadership review. You don't want to get into that at this stage of you starting with the firm

Agree with what's said here. Don't try to test the system just to get a few more points. If you pay the annual membership for AmEx, you'll be able to accumulate points for your own use, though it won't be an earth shattering number of points. As long as you have your frequent flyer, hotel rewards, etc loaded into the system, you'll get the points as you normally would from any travel (just not cc multipliers).

Generally you are required to use corporate card for expenses. If you have an Amex you can join that card to your account. In order to get points, you’ll have to pay the annual fee out of pocket but you can keep any points you have.

EY will send you a corporate amex card, a green one. To get points, you have two options. Option one is to buy in to get points (think you paying $90 and then you start accumulating points), option two is to upgrade to the platinum card and pay the annual fee, and then you will collect points.

Benefit of the corporate platinum Amex is that they'll get entrance to some airport lounges, free global entry or TSA pre, etc other benefits.

What's the norm for consulting firms during a shutdown? Do people on non funded projects usually get furloughed or kept on? Asking because I've been at a bigger firm that kept everyone on during the last shutdown, but I'm at a much smaller company now that is going to furlough on a project by project basis (if your project is shutdown, you get furloughed). Just curious if this is commonplace among smaller firms/what the norm is for bigger ones as well? What's been your experience?
