I’ve come to the realization that my whole goal in going into big law is to do a good job and make money, once I’ve hit a certain level I’m out to in house or smaller firm. Don’t care about partnership. Don’t care about the pedigree. Anyone else feel the same?

I could not care less about pedigree or partnership. I make more money in house that I ever did at my (small) firm. And, even then, I plan to leave the corporate rat race at some point.

Common. I just love money.

The good news is I don’t really think lawyer is considered a respectable job anymore. Almost anyone I talk to seems to view lawyers as overpaid liars. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
