I recently got a verbal offer from KPMG strategy. Is that more prestigious than like, most other firms? Like, I know MBB is done with recruiting; I feel like below MBB for name recognition is the Big 4 and other firms aren’t as reputable. I’m trying to decide whether or not I should interview and apply to other firms or just take this one (assuming a written offer ever comes along). Also, I prioritize work culture and exit opportunities over salary, but don’t want to be paid below poverty line.

It's wild how many stories you hear like this. Someone could probably write a well-reported and entertaining book on recruiters and how they operate. I mean, there must be some explanation for this stuff. Are they trying to hit quotas so they just make contact with everyone and their cousin? Or do they just get in touch and then lose control of the situation? Someone should be able to make it make sense.
Sorry you had to experience that. I have had recruiters reached out to me and then ghosted me as well. Its unfortunate and heart wrenching,
I've found small mom and pop recruiters to be the best. Shout out to insight global for being terrible btw.
What country are you in?
Think of what motivates them. They make a living by filling a position for an employer. Period. They don’t get a bonus for being extra nice to rejected candidates. If anything it hurts them because the time they spend communicating with you detracts from them spending time with viable candidates. Personally, I barely spent anytime with third-party recruiters because I’m skeptical that they have access to positions that I couldn’t find on my own.
