Are you talking about nurse midwives?
Night nurses, they stay in your home for a set amount of time (e.g., 4wks) and are there to help you when the baby wakes up and is fussy at night, to help with breastfeeding, to give new moms reassurance at changing and cleaning the baby, etc. My understanding is they’re like having grandma there full time, wisdom + emotional support + helping sleepless nights
I did it for one week (2nd week after birth) and it was a huge help for me to get back to work (I took pat leave after). Helped with teaching how to bath, make sleep, soothe, breastfeed.
Week 1 into the baby nurse and definitely agree that she has been phenomenonal. Worth every penny for the support for Mom. That said, we lucked out with a super relaxed baby and no trouble breastfeeding, so there's a possibility we cut it short from 4 to 2-3wks
