Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Speak to the hiring manager............
"I think I am a really good fit for this position and am very interested. What are the next steps from here?" - how to end it.
I think you're overthinking it. Just prepare some questions that show you're actually interested, talk to the manager, and go from there. You don't have to have every step outlined before you go for it.
Come up with some questions, guessing he doesn't want shoot the shit with you
But what I don’t understand is how to end the call... is it just a case of asking some questions then hoping for the best?
He's likely not the DM for hiring, so I wouldn't stress it. You're profile obviously fits the needs of the company so just ask questions that indicate your interest, e.g. what is day to day what are responsibilities what opportunities exist for promotion, etc.
So do you think this won’t get me any closer?!
Ask him how you guys should continue the discussion/ conversation, what are the next steps, offer up some ideas
