I’ve started noticing a pattern on calls that I can’t unsee now. When I’m direct or push back on pricing or timelines, I get labeled as intense or a lot, while male reps saying the same things are called confident and decisive. It’s never explicit enough to call out, but it definitely shapes how people respond to me over time. I love sales and I’m good at it, but navigating this unspoken double standard is exhausting. I don’t want to shrink myself just to be more palatable. Have other women experienced this? How do you stay assertive without getting socially penalized?

Been through all interviews, recruiter said it's looking good but they would let me know early this week and asked if that works from a timing perspective since they know I was interviewing with someone else also. One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.

Would you work at your company again if you were laid off?
