I think it's team dependent. Some want quarterly face to face meetings some don't.
Thank you! It might just be a learning curve to potentially reach out to a recruiter / HR on any position beforehand. Granted this is what interviews are for also. However, I feel it was a waste of time for myself and their 3 managers to perform 2 interviews when it was listed as 100% remote with no mention of travel. Unfortunately cross country travel just isn’t something I’m able to commit to during my current stage of life.
Check out fintech roles. Easier to find remote work and better WLB
Thank you! I am definitely steering that direction and looking into some additional education that could help with landing those positions and provide further growth. In the meantime, do you have any recommendations for companies or specific roles to break into first? The spectrum is quite broad it seems.
It really depends on the role. There are plenty of finance positions that don't require travel. Either way, it doesn't hurt to ask the question right upfront. No point in wasting everyone's time if you're not going to be interested in pursuing it further. That said, 12-14 days a year isn't horrible. In fact, you might be able to see new places and meet some great people.
I definitely appreciate when a job posting lists travel requirements or up to 10% travel, but I will more likely be asking on unspecified positions in future to save everyone’s time. Learning curve!
I do agree though! It’s not an unreasonable ask, but I’m a mom to 3 kids under 4yrs, and live 300 miles from the airport. So with travel and flights, it would be more like 3-4nights/5 days away from an infant and toddlers every 3 months. Although there’s still no shame in that either for those who are comfortable - it’s just my personal decision that I’m not ready to commit to that yet at this stage. (Especially when the pay grade is not significant by any means.)
