Just got a meeting invite for 11/18 with a PPD-am I being laid off

Hi everyone, unfortunately I was recently affected by a layoff at my company. About 30% of their marketing department along with other departments were all let go. I have 3+ professional experience with product marketing, digital marketing, and event management. If you know of anyone looking for marketing specialists or just want to network in general let me know. I would love to connect!

My work product is becoming worse and partners are noticing/commenting. I just hate the practice area so much that every time I am asked to do something I just get it done as quickly as possible and can’t be bothered to put in effort. I think I need to quit so I’m not fired for bad performance with a horrible reputation. Am I nuts and should I just wait til they let me go?

Do you have any tips/advise for someone who was laid off recently and early in their career?

I have been going on interviews and noticed 2 department heads already assume I was laid off or fired due to a 4 months gap. I explained I left my last role due to short term health issues that have been resolved. Not even sure how to respond when they assume. Any advise? Thanks!

How terrible is workers comp defense? Got laid off and I’m assessing what jobs I want to go after and which ones are backups if I get desperate.

When you say your salary jumped __x, how is that exactly calculated?

Mine was $16k (minimum wage before joining corporate) > $40k (contractor total before getting laid off) > $150k (current FT)?

Is that a 260% jump or 2.6x from $16k to $40k?
And a 375% jump or 3.75x from $40k to $150k?

Or do I calculate it by hourly rate?

I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. We’re not fired, but they’re transferring us to the core implementation team, which has a horrible reputation for malignancy, overworking, and isn’t at all what I was hired to do. How hard is it going to be to for me to find a new job? Should I just stay and try things out? What next?

Hey guys I have offer from cisco system and checkpoint cyber security . Checkpoint is offering x+5 in base where as cisco is offering similar amount in joining bonus. Overall per year ctc is also differs by 3 lac (y+3) in checkpoint .

So considering recession and mass layoff which one will be right option to select in terms wlb, job security and future growth .

FYI : checkpoint is starting r&d division in India I will be first person to be hired for the same role.

The agent said the construction there is now mostly just facade work on the top so it's not noisy any more, but I don't 100% buy that. If anyone lives in that area, can you please tell me if you can still hear any construction noise from inside your apartment when you close your windows at all? Thanks!

Does anyone else struggle with taking detailed notes during meetings and have tips for improving? One of the partners I work for demands that the most junior associate take detailed notes and circulate them after every call, but I have a hard time comprehending the call if I am taking notes because I’m focused on typing quickly.
