I know this is off topic, but maybe right now isn't the best time to start working on Facebook's data team? If they're pinging you, I think it's safe to say you have a good enough resume to look elsewhere.

GI1 makes a really interesting and compelling point. I tend to agree.

Hoping someone responds to this because I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a decision scientist before and I’m interested to know more about this position. Following..

A decision scientist is focused on understanding how, as its name suggests, users make decisions. Their work analyzes how users interact with the product to derive strategies to improve the business by driving user growth, user spend, user session time, etc. This is a technical role. Primary tools will be SQL, Python, R. I’d expect some reporting or dashboarding as all data roles have these aspects, but the majority of your time should be spent on independent investigations to test hypotheses about users and how to improve the business. This is different from a research or algorithms scientist which is an even more technical role (Masters minimum, PhD preferred) focused on developing the algorithms that power the platform or productionalizing machine learning models. Graduate level statistics knowledge is necessary for this role.

Not a great time to be in FB in my opinion. Only a matter of time before regulations stifle growth.

Sounds like UX Researcher

Please comment.
